Come Home to Joy

What do you push to the side at a time of insecurity, rising costs, and rapid change? Near the top of the list (or bottom of the list?) for many people is self-care.

Granted, one should not prepare for the next fire while desperately putting out a conflagration. Problem is, we live in a world where attention is currency, and currency is king. And what's the best way to get someone's attention? Convince them that there's a conflagration they need to attend to this very moment or, alternatively, provide a distraction alluring enough that it allows them to numb it out.

I think we can all agree that freak out/numb out does not equate to life well lived. Well, what's the alternative?

Right on time: Here are six great reasons to prioritize massage therapy as part of your self-care right now:

  • Vacation from Everything: What a relief to be supported, nurtured, and free of responsibility. This is not numbing, rather it is returning home to yourself.

“To say I was transported would be accurate. I was feeling so blissful after the massage, and it seemed to last for a couple of days." - Kevin M.

  • Refreshing Perspective: Massage therapy opens the door to another way of being, and when we walk through that door we witness that peace is possible in our bodies and in our minds. No one expects it to last forever, but just touching it gives us comfort that there is a harbor in the storm, and that harbor is inside us.

“You are stuck with as long as ... I am still kicking and able to bring myself to an appointment! Absolutely grateful to have this monthly appointment to meter the crazy pace of life and humanity.” - Suzanne Z.

  • Money and Time: Massage therapy prevents injuries, prevents issues from worsening, and helps people recover more quickly from injuries. Injuries and sustained injuries are expensive in terms of doctors visits, tests, medications, and the like. I'm talking about both money and time.

"I really enjoyed the massage and was able to sleep on my left side without shoulder pain for the first time in months ... I truly appreciate your talent and expertise." - Heather E.

  • Receive to Give: Feeling good, feeling whole, and feeling empowered, we are emboldened and resourced to bring our best self to the world. Bringing our best self to the world we open ourselves to receive goodness (and transform negativity).

"[Your massage] was like a healing balm. I slept better than I've slept in months, woke up feeling alert and centered. A hearty THANK YOU for making my world a better place!" - Helen T.

  • Insight: Your body is full of wisdom. Your body has ideas and answers that your mind will never think of. Massage therapy opens channels of communication which can result in better performance, better feelings, even better decisions.

"Dealing with ongoing pain spots in shoulder neck and lower back. I benefit from monthly massages to keep moving freely. Also get feedback on how to maintain pain free. It’s been a game changer for me!” - Thea Z.

  • Joy: As we age our bodies change. A set-back may cause us to reduce or avoid a cherished activity, and hesitate to explore new ones. We have personally seen many clients rediscover joy in their lives as they re-embrace old activities and entertain new ones.

“I feel less tension and body movement is easier with no perceptible stiffness in my back and neck. I definitely feel more functional today than I have the last few weeks.” - N. I.
